When Sisters Speak: Life Lessons For Women In Ministry

Posted by First Lady Butler on November 12, 2011 at 11:20 PM

For the woman in ministry, especially as a clergy wife, there is an aspect of your life in which God will take you through a progression of development. This process will challenge the essence of who you are as a woman of faith, character, and ministry. I am not talking about an overnight sensation of Holy Ghost outpour where you wake up refreshed, inspired and ready to conquer the world. Rather, I am talking about an arduous step by step, day by day process that will take you down unimaginable roads, some filled with success, purpose, joy and fulfillment, and others filled with pain, rejection, depression, isolation and loneliness or what I like to term as "process roads of life." These unimaginable process roads of life are meant to push you to walk into your destiny as a woman of faith, character and ministry. The process roads can be confusing if you are not able to recognize its intended purpose. They can take you off course if you have not equipped yourself. Some process moments may become so overwhelming where you want to abandon the ranks and/or quit. There may be moments in which you feel like your essence as a woman of faith, chracter and ministry are lost and forgotten. Life and experience as a woman, wife, mother, and first lady has afforded me opportunity to share with my fellow sisters in ministry how to be better prepared when you come face to face with your own personal moments.

For every women in ministry, it is important you know who you are as a woman. Do no allow distractions or busyness to cause you to lose focus and become out of touch with God. You are a woman who God has gifted with ability to perform. Find your fit place in ministry and work it as God has endowed you to do. Always find special alone time moments with God for spiritual strength and renewal. Seek out godly counsel especially when you are at your lowest points. Always take out time for a "nothing moment" of relaxation. Process moments will come, but taking some daily steps to fortify yourself, you will not be so easily swayed. Every process moment you walk through is a push closer to walking in your divine purpose as a woman. Until then, prepare for your process, embrace the lessons it brings and be determined always to surrender to God, so you can maintain victory and God can get the glory out of your life.
